Fractal Rehab: employing neuromuscular system variability to improve gait and healthy ageing

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Specific Aim 1: Investigate the short-term effects of an ISO and a FRC
stimuli on gait variability in older adults. H1: after walking to a FRC
stimulus, older adults will exhibit gait variability more similar to that
of healthy young adults than after walking to widely used ISO stimulus.
Specific Aim 2: To investigate the effects of a 4-week gait program in
3 groups of older adults who train with a FRC, an ISO, or no stimulus.
One-month retention tests will be performed following the training
program. H2: Older adults who train with FRC will exhibit greater
improvements in gait variability, and greater retention compared to
the other two groups.
