Point of care testing of nitrites for cardiovascular disease risk assessment - from the bench to the clinician

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The long-time objective of this research proposal is to contribute to the implementation of a new nitrite biosensor as a key tool in biomedical research and health care monitoring. But our immediate goal is to use the novel POCT recently developed in our research group, the NO2Probe, in a preliminary observational study designed to evaluate if the levels of nitrites in blood and saliva can constitute valuable biomarkers of human diseases, particularly in the case of cardiovascular disorders.
