Abstract

With nonlinear methods, the Center of Pressure excursion analysis can be used to quantify the regularity, adaptability, and complexity of movement over time. These measures can quantify the regularity, adaptability, and complexity of movement. This study aims to analyze Center of Pressure differences between flatfoot and neutral foot subjects using Approximate Entropy analysis. The sample consisted of 31 participants (13 women/18 men; mean age 23.26 years ± standard deviation 4.43). Fifteen participants had bilateral flatfoot condition and the remaining 16 formed the control group with bilateral neutral foot condition. Before analyzing their posture, participants underwent screening using the Navicular Drop Test and Resting Calcaneal Stance Position test to characterize each group. Under both eyes-open and eyes-closed conditions, all participants performed bipedal weight-bearing stance analyses on a force platform. Subsequently, Approximate Entropy was calculated. The non-linear analysis revealed no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05). There were no significant differences observed in postural stability between individuals with and without flatfoot. Methodological variables should be addressed, and foot modifications specifically addressed to address existing methodological deficiencies.
