Abstract
The perception of children about interparental conflicts are an important mediator of the impact of those conflicts in their development, therefore an appropriate assessment is essential. In this paper we present the Portuguese version of Children’s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale for Young Children (CPIC-Y) originally introduced by Grych in 2000 - Escala de Perceção da Criança dos Conflitos Interparentais (EPCCI-C). The objective of this self-report scale is to assess the perception of children between seven and nine years old about interparental conflicts, namely the properties of the conflicts (frequency, intensity, resolution), threat, guilt, and parent-child relationship. This version was tested with a sample of children from primary education schools, revealing good psychometric qualities. These proprieties and the characteristics of the scale are discussed in more detail in this paper.
