Detalhes do projeto

Description

The main goal of the current study is to identify the best therapeutic approach to the reduction of bruxism symptoms among patients with sleep or awake bruxism. Our four specific objectives are: a) comparing the effectiveness of four therapeutic approaches longitudinally, i.e. between baseline and post-therapeutic approach assessment, in order to identify which is the best therapeutic approach to the reduction of bruxism symptoms; b) evaluation of the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral stress management (CBSM) and BruxAPP as a mixed therapeutic approach on the reduction of clinical and psychological symptoms of bruxism; c) the development, implementation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of CBSM intervention on the reduction of clinical and psychological symptoms of bruxism; d) the implementation and the evaluation of the effectiveness of a smartphone application (BruxAPP) on the reduction of clinical and psychological symptoms of bruxism among time. We expect that the results of this study will provide data about the effectiveness of CBSM and BruxAPP over the usual occlusal splints and the use of CBSM or BruxAPP separately. This will contribute to the awareness of the importance of a mixed therapeutic approach on the reduction of bruxism symptoms, which is in line with the actual consensus of therapeutic approaches for bruxism.
