Description
Gamification of Organic Chemistry Courses for undergraduate students is a project that aims to enhance organic chemistry education for undergraduate health science students by developing engaging gamified learning tools. Initially, digital games focusing on core concepts namely, functional group identification, nomenclature, and reactivity—will be developed and integrated into the curriculum. Undergraduate students will engage with these digital games, and the impact on their learning will be assessed through appropriate mixed linear models that account for the covariance structure of the date. If the results indicate that these games improve comprehension and retention, the project will expand in two key directions: first, by developing complementary physical games, such as board and card games, to compare the educational impact of digital versus physical formats; second, by extending game access to a broader cohort, including students from other institutions. Through this phased approach, the project seeks to develop and evaluate sustainable, gamified tools that transform organic chemistry into an interactive, accessible learning experience, fostering deeper understanding and retention among health science students.
