Description
-To assess the presence and characteristics of alpha-Synuclein (AS) aggregates in gut biopsies of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients.
- To search for motor/non-motor symptoms of PD in patients with IBD and controls;
-To correlate the AS burden in gut biopsies with the IBD type: Crohn’s or colitis;
- To correlate the AS burden in IBD patients with its clinical-morphological features, disease duration/activity and treatment;
-To promote specialized neurological evaluation in patients with IBD or controls with PD suggestive symptoms or exhibiting significant AS burden in gut biopsies.
