title = "Linkage between denture{\textquoteright}s conditions and oral lesions",
abstract = "The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions related with dentures{\textquoteright} condition. For that purpose a transversal study was conducted in a large cohort of 145 arches rehabilitated with partial and total dentures. Data were obtained through intra-oral examination and evaluation of the dentures. Results showed that gender influences the dentures{\textquoteright} conditions, the appearance of oral lesions and the type of DMLs. Also the age factor was found to be relevant in the appearance of oral lesions in arches rehabilitated with unadapted dentures. No connection was found between the dentures{\textquoteright} condition and the presence of oral lesions. Nonetheless, in the arches that developed oral lesions there was a significantly higher prevalence of unadapted dentures. Thus, one might conclude that the adaptation of the denture is associated with the development of oral lesions, although one cannot claim that it is the main cause for the development of oral lesions.",
