Resumo
Concerns regarding the pink-white aesthetic ratio are common among patients seeking smile makeovers. Periodontal surgery contemplates a wide range of procedures to correct an excessive gingival display. Aesthetic crown lengthening is a routinely performed periodontal procedure that involves the surgical removal of periodontal tissues to achieve longer clinical crowns and correct the excessive gingival display. It can be used for aesthetic enhancement in the presence of altered passive eruption and should aim for a reduction of the excessive gingival tissue, full exposure of the anatomical crowns, perfect balance of the gingival contours and reestablishment of the appropriate biological width. This clinical case reports a crown lengthening procedure using the apically repositioned flap technique to correct altered passive eruption. The patient complained of an excessive gingival display and inadequate tooth dimensions. Through a careful diagnosis, planning and surgical technique, patient satisfaction was achieved. Regular follow-ups allowed a correct maintenance and management of this case.
